Review: Track Your Cash Flow with Ease Using Dollarbird
Dollarbird is an easy-to-use application for those who wish to record their daily income and expenses in a very simple way. It allows you to create your own income or expense categories and to export data in CSV format. It provides a projection of your financial activities as well for up to five years. Its pleasing layout, icons, and color scheme will surely be a delight to use aside from its more practical features.
Dollarbird was created by Halcyon and is also its first ever application. The main goal of this app is to give you an easy way to view your financial activities through the use of graphs and let you project your expenses and income for years to come. The user interface can be quite complicated for a first time user, but as time goes on, they will be able to grasp the whole concept behind it.
This is a good app to try if you do not like the idea of giving your bank or credit account information on an app. With Dollarbird, you can still track your income and expenses without having to expose you to such risk but this also means that you would have to enter everything yourself. If this is not a problem to you and if you have the time and the patience to do so, then Dollarbird will give you the utility that you want.
To use this app, you will generally need to enter an initial income first where all of your future expenses will be deducted from. After that, you will be led to the main page of the app which is a calendar. The dates on the calendar are quite small so it may be a bit harder to use for those with problems with eyesight. To add an expense to a particular date, just tap the date and swipe down on the bottom of the calendar where you can see "Pull Down to Add Transaction."
You need to swipe down on the screen until the rotating plus sign appears and you are led to another screen. On the upper part of the screen you will see a series of icons for each category expense and you also have the option to create your own categories as well. You also have the option to enter notes and make it a recurring income or expense by clicking on the double arrows. Enter the amount of the expense or income, and then select the appropriate category below and click "save."
The app will then automatically deduct or add it to your current balance. To enter new income, you need to swipe the icons towards the left and you will see the salary or income icon in the next screen. This is also where you can add new categories.By tapping the circular icon on the top right, you will be able to access a graphical representation of your balance and expenses. When you tap balance, you will be sent to another screen where you are shown your monthly balance. The same also applies on the expenses option.
If you want a more factual tracking of your income and expenses, Dollarbird offers you that ability but you need to do the manual task of inputting the data yourself. Some may find this quite time-consuming and even annoying, but the good part is you also do not run the risk of wrongly categorized income or expense which is the usual problem with automated financial trackers. It also helps ease the work of tracking your budget by offering recurring payment or income options in the app.
