Astutium is a UK-based web host company that offers domain registration, shared, VPS, and dedicated server hosting. They were established in 1996 and has since then expanded their services by the creation of their own datacenters.

Reliability

The company offers a 99% to 99.5% uptime to their clients.

Features

Their Shared hosting packages come in Linux and Windows platform. Linux hosting offers two control panel options: cPanel or DirectAdmin. They feature Linux HTML, PHP, and an optional MySQL for other plans. They have 100 to 500 MB disk space, 1 GB to 7 GB monthly bandwidth, 5 to 15 email accounts, 3 to 5 MySQL databases for some plans, and from 1 to 5 websites hosted. Windows hosting on the other hand features: Windows HTML, ASP, or ASP.NET, DotNetPanel, 250 MB to 500 MB disk space, 3 GB to 7 GB monthly bandwidth, 10 to 15 emails, and 3 to 5 databases.

Business hosting is also offered in Linux and Windows. For the Linux option, the features include: 2500 MB to 7500 MB disk space, 15 GB to 60 GB monthly bandwidth, 50 to 150 email accounts, 10 to 20 databases, 10 to 30 hosted websites, an optional unique IP, and a cPanel or DirectAdmin control panel. For Windows, the features are: Windows HTML, ASP, ASP.NET, 2500 to 7500 MB disk space, 15 GB to 60 GB monthly bandwidth, 50 to 100 email accounts, 10 to 20 databases, 10 to 30 hosted sites, DotNetPanel, and an optional IP and SSL certificate.

E-Commerce hosting is available in Shared SSL and cPanel packages. For Shared SSL, you will have 50 to 150 MB disk space, 1 GB to 20 GB monthly bandwidth, 1 to 10 email accounts, FTP access, 5 databases for the highest plan, and URL. For the cPanel packages, you will have 2 GB to 6 GB disk space, 40 GB to 240 GB monthly bandwidth, 200 to 600 email accounts, fixed IP address, SSL certificate, and priority support.

Their Developer hosting package features: Jakarta and Shared hosting, TomCat5.x engine, 1 GB to 5 GB RAID10 disk space, 15 GB to 60 GB monthly bandwidth, 100 to 300 email accounts, and 50 to 100 subdomains.

Application hosting is offered for WordPress, Joomla!, and Drupal. For WordPress hosting, you can choose from 1-click setup, professional setup, or dedicated WordPressVPS; SEO features, managed upgrades, and daily backups, enhanced security, Fast UK WordPress hosting and customizable themes. For Joomla, you can choose from 250 to 7500 MB disk space, 3 GB to 60 GB monthly bandwidth, 10 to 150 emails, 3 to 20 databases, and from 3 to 30 hosted websites. Drupal hosting features 250 MB to 7500 MB disk space, 3 GB to 60 GB monthly bandwidth, 10 to 150 email accounts, 3 to 20 databases, and from 3 to 30 hosted websites.

Linux Reseller hosting has is available in cPanel or DirectAdmin options. For cPanel packages, you can choose from 10 to 500 clients, 2 GB to 100 GB disk space, 100 to 5000 email accounts, 100 to 5000 subdomains, and from 100 to 5000 MySQL databases. DirectAdmin plans have 50 to 100 clients, 10 GB to 20 GB disk space, 50 GB to 100 GB monthly bandwidth, 500 to 1000 email accounts, 500 to 1000 subdomains, and 500 to 1000 MySQL databases.

Windows Reseller has 30 to 100 clients, 3 GB to 10 GB disk space, 30 GB to 100 GB monthly bandwidth, DotNetPanel, 300 to 1000 email accounts, 300 to 1000 subdomains, and 300 to 1000 MySQL databases.

For VPS hosting, you can choose from OVZ, XEN, JVM, and Windows HyperV. For the OVZ packages, you will get the following features: 128 MB to 2048 MB RAM, 256 MB to 4096 MB burstable RAM, 5 GB to 80 GB HDD web space, 100 GB to 1600 GB monthly bandwidth, and from 1 to 8 CPU cores. For the XEN plans, you will get form 512 MB to 8 GB RAM, 15 GB to 240 GB disk space, 250 GB to 4000 GB monthly bandwidth, and 1 to 8 CPU cores. KVM plans features 512 MB to 8 GB RAM, 15 GB to 240 GB disk space, 250 GB to 4000 GB monthly bandwidth, and from 1 to 8 CPU cores. Windows HyperV plans include 512 MB to 2048 MB RAM, 30 GB to 100 GB HDD disk space, and from 250 GB to 1 TB monthly bandwidth.

Dedicated Server hosting is available in Linux and Windows. For Linux, you can choose from Supermicro 5015M-MT to Supermicro 6035P-T, Intel Dual Core CPU to Dual Intel QuadCore - 20 GHz processor, 1-8 GB RAM to 8-32 GB RAM, and from 1 or 2 160 GB SATA HDD to 6x160 GB SATA.

Pricing

Astutiumís standard Shared Linux hosting costs from £2.95 to £7.95 a month, while Business Linux hosting costs £14.95 to £37.95 a month. Windows shared hosting costs £17.95 to £40.95 a month. Ecommerce Shared SSL hosting costs £49.95 a year to £69.95 a month.

WordPress hosting costs from £4.95 a month to £14.95 a month; Joomla hosting costs from £4.95 a month to £29.95; and Drupal hosting is from £4.95 to £29.95.

Linux Reseller hosting costs from £9.99 to £49.95 a month while Windows Reseller costs from £29.95 to £59.95 a month.

VPS plans cost from £4 to £64 a month for OVZ, from £18 to £244.80 a month for XEN, £18 to £244.80 monthly for KVM, and from £29.95 to £69.95 for Windows HyperV.

Security

The company offers shared SSL and email anti-spam and anti-virus protection as well as daily backups. You will have to purchase an SSL separately.

Astutium offers a wide range of web hosting services that covers basic application hosting, such as WordPress, to dedicated servers. They also offer good services and tech support. For this, I think that the company has a 7 out of 10 rating.
