HOW TO MAKE NEW FRIENDS

Hey Jesse Neo!

I just moved from Texas to South Korea and will be staying there for two years. I have great friends in Texas but I want to have even greater friends in South Korea. I live on an American Air Force Base so I'm sure people won't be as different as the USA which is a good thing. I'm also starting 6th grade on Monday the 31st, and I'm not sure how to approach someone and have a great long friendship. All I'm trying to ask is, how can I make new friends?

Signed,
  -Sheldon

Dear Sheldon,

Making friends is actually really easy! Have you read the How to Make Friends advice article yet that someone else sent in? That would be a great start!

But your situation may be different and I can understand that too. The main thing you must remember is people do want to be your friend and there is nothing as having "too much" friends. When you see someone at South Korea, go up to them and introduce yourself. A simple hi would be fine. Ask them questions and talk about the things around you. Just remember to smile, make eyes contact and be friendly. Because you're from America that is already a bonus to what you could talk about! Tell them about your friends and life at Texas. Is it much difference from South Korea? What do you find different?

The key to great friendship is communication and involvement. The only way to make new friends that would last a long time is to talk to them! Get their number or contact detail and call them up! If you need help, go talk to them! Then invite them to your life! Ask them to sit next to you at lunch! Sit next to them in class! Now don't be into thinking that you're annoying or they already have enough friends. The truth is, there is always room for another friend! As time pass and you follow the rules to communicate and involve, I'm sure your friendship would be a hectic one!

All the best to you on your first day of school and moving to South Korea! I love that country! I think it's a beautiful place to live!

If you would want more advice or hope to stay in contact with me, feel free to add me on MySpace and/or Facebook and/or Twitter! Just hit me up a message or comment anytime! I promise to reply to them all!

Best regards,
  -Jesse Neo
