DOES GOD HATE SINNERS?

Last night I did something really horrible and I am so ashamed of it! It is such a sinful and morally wrong act! I feel so guilty about it and now I think God hates me! what do I do? This have been bugging me for so long that I need to get it out!

Dear Joanna,

Remember that God is love (1 John 4:8). He does not hate you for any reason and to prove that he really loves you more than anything else, he even sent His only son, Jesus Christ, to die for your sins so you won't have to.

Yes, there may be times that you've sinned and feel ashamed of seeing God, but the truth is, God really still loves you! As long as you confess your sin, ask for forgiveness, and promise to never repeat the sin, God had promised he will cast your sin into the bottom of the ocean where it cannot be retrieved (Micah 7:19) and will not be remembered (Isaiah 46:25).

A good example for God's unconditional love is like loving your pets. True, sometimes your cat or dog may be naughty - barking at night, eating your food, and yes, you may want to throw your anger at them, but inside your pets are still the most wonderful thing to you and no matter what they did, you'll still be able to forgive them. This is how God feels about you, but an infinity times more stronger! Wow! That must be some really strong love!
