DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PROTESTANT & CATHOLICISM

I know some people that are Catholics and I am a Protestant. My friends tell me that being Catholic is wrong, but I see them as still Christians believing in God. Can you tell me what is the difference and which one is the right one?

Dear Bianca,

First of all Protestants and Catholics are both Christians. They both believe in God, accepts Jesus Christ as their saviors, prays, believes in the Trinity, etc. However they both consist of some differences.

Protestants believes only in scriptures of the Bible as if that is the core center of the whole religion. They believe the Bible alone is God's revelation to the world and also the standard to all Protestants. Basically everything is based on scriptures alone.

On the other hand Catholic believes both scriptures and sacred Roman Catholic traditions. Some of the traditions involves praying to Saints, purgatory, and veneration of Mary. These traditions has no relationship to what the Bible says but they still believes it is true.

But which one is the correct Christian? An example to find the truth is like thinking about eating healthy. We can't just concentrate only on one aspect believing all the positive truths about it. For example, just because you think apples are healthy, you can't eat only apples everyday. Instead of doing good, it will actually harm you! With the same as Christians dominations, yes, you are part of it, but you should not obsess into it. Like eating healthy, we must eat different fruits and vegetables in the color of the rainbow to get the most out of it. This is the same as Christians. Don't close your mind onto one denomination and bring out harm, fights and friction against other Christians. I believe this is how Satan uses his work to deceive us.

So as you can see, there is no perfect Christian denominations as there is no healthiest food. The only way to get the perfection is to open up our minds like eating a variety of fruits. But as long as you are opening your heart to God and accepting him, that is all that matters. Remember, Jesus said that he He will go wherever people accepts Him. Whoever calls the name of the Lord shall be saved (Acts 2:21). Seek and you shall find.
