Confessing You Don't Like Them Back

I have a best friend which confessed that he likes me. How do I tell him that I only think of him as a friend without hurting his feelings?

Dear Emzy,

You have already given me the answer ? tell him that you only think of him as a friend! Yes, I understand that it may sound hurtful and even rude, but it is the only way to go.

However, instead of giving him a negative impression, you could list all the good things about him and credit that he is likable. Is he caring? Is he smart? Is he creative? Complement him as much as you can and then add that because he is such a great person, you are by far, not good enough for him and staying friends would be the best move.

By saying it through this perspective, not only is it less cruel, it will also give him hope.
