I'M ADDICTED TO FACEBOOK!

Hey Jesse Neo!

I am a totally computer-addict. I go on Facebook more than 15 times a day and I stay on the website for so long and barely do anything. I try to go outside a little bit but it's boring alone. When I went with my dad to Boston I didn't have a computer so I started reading books and I felt so much better. I'd try to stop going on it when I came back home but the temptation is too hard... I really need to do something else... Please Help!

Dear Marjorie,

You must first find what is it about Facebook that keeps you attracted to it. Is it because you feel accepted there? Because all your friend are there? Or maybe because you feel entertained? Try to find that specific thing(s). You may even make a mind map to help you.

After doing so, try finding something other than Facebook with those aspects too. Maybe it's because you talk to your friends alot on that website so maybe you should plan a day out with your friends and get the same feeling you would had on Facebok. Maybe it's not friends. Maybe it's because you like looking at photos! Go get yourself a camera and go around your neighborhood taking random shots! See what funny and creative photos you can take! If you do this, you may even find yourself a new hobby!

Another way is to treat Facebook as a reward. Instead of resisting Facebook, maybe you should make it feel as a way to finalize your dreams! An example are taking photos in hope that you'll receive more than 100 comments, or is liked by the most people. So spend your days taking photos, work on a huge project, and use Facebook to show it off! Imagine all the things you would do! How would people react? The longer you stay away from Facebook the greater the pleasure will be! Keep that in mind!
